Olvera Street - Jordan Wong

San Gabriel River - Aalaa Yassin

I went on the " wrong" field trip. I was really trying to investigate the way water rolled and focus on the interplay between the blues and oranges I could see.

Aalaa Yassin - Class notes

Richard Shields - Casa De Geraths

This one I”d like to call “quit fiddledickin on my lawn”

In all seriousness Kyle wanted to pose but we had like 5 min left to paint so I did this really quick, figured I haven’t posted much totally unfinished work and this is an accurate representation of what happens when u see cool stuffs but have only minutes to paint it.

Happy ol trail

Aalaa Yassin - Final Field Trip

I think this is one of my favourite painting of the entire semester.  I'm really happy with the backlighting!

Here is when I finally understood how to paint trees. I kind of like the composition here.

After asking Gary for help, I started to understand trees a little better. I wanted to create this big swoop from a foreground eucalyptus tree and lead the eye along the treeline in the back.

This was the first painting I did on this field trip. I'm not super stoked; it feels very watery, and not in a good way.

I wanted to use colours to show the distance between the mountains and the way they layered back and forth. I think I could have made the background a little more desaturated, but I really felt like I understood how to paint mountains after this!
